“What would you like?”

“I’ll take a 500 word romance ficlet, to go please.”

“Would you like a side of sexytimes with that?”

Tumblr and I are about to be on a little break.

And I know I’ve said that before, but I’ve literally not felt this shitty because of someone else in a really long time.

I make it a point to try to be nothing but kind to others, especially those that talk to me on Tumblr. The internet can be a hard, scary place to be sometimes and I always want people to feel like they can talk to me about whatever. Because I’ve been in that really shitty place where I didn’t know who or what I could turn to.

But this is crossing the line. And because I’ve made it a point to answer every question, no matter what it says, I’ve now shot myself in the foot, in a figurative sense.

This fandom can be really amazing sometimes, but it can also be the shittiest place in the world at other times.

So while I will be refraining from posting or reblogging castle-related things for an undetermined amount of time, I will continue to answer questions that come my way.

I will not, however, answer any questions you may have regarding my opinion on other writers, so please keep those questions to yourself.

Anonymous: You recently said you "hadn't found much" on FFNet lately, in regards to good fic. Your list was missing some great authors though. No matter your feelings on them personally, you're missing out by not reading: AnnieXMuller, Brookemopolitan, Caffeinate-Me, DMarx, Kimmiesjoy, KyinHI, Liv Wilder & Polly Lynn. Try sounding a little less snotty about being picky, and try branching out and reviewing others for once.

Actually, I have read a majority of those that you’ve mentioned. I read a TON of fic (or have read) and I don’t always remember every single story or author that I’ve read, so if I don’t mention them, it doesn’t mean I haven’t read their work or haven’t enjoyed their work. I may not have the time to list everything nor do I remember to list everything.

And while I enjoy many of the authors you’ve listed, there are some that I have tried, but do not read for any number of reasons. But usually if I find an author isn’t my style, it’s an issue of character voices. As a screenwriter, I’m incredibly picky about nailing character. So if I find something off, I generally tend not to read it. That’s not to say that the author isn’t a good writer. It just simply means that I don’t enjoy it.

Not everyone is going to like everyone’s writing. I’m sure there are plenty of readers who don’t enjoy my writing for any number of reasons. Which I’m completely okay with. To each his own cup of tea.

Additionally when I said I “hadn’t read much” I also meant that there’s not much that hasn’t been done already. You can be the world’s greatest writer and be using the same tired storyline as everyone else. So I also meant that because Castle fanfic has been around for a few years and the show has finally gotten them together, there isn’t really a lot that can be done with them that hasn’t already been done. So in general, I was referring to a lack of original ideas as well. Because there really aren’t many left.

You could try to be a little more understanding or even a little more polite in your next post. I generally tend to be a friendly person and don’t really appreciate being labeled as “snotty” simply because I know what I like to read.

Have a nice day, anon.

You ever have those days like

fuck, I can’t write a goddamn thing.

Found this when I was going through all my old stuff.

Back when I wrote out fanfic by hand, in my SVU days.

phoebsfan:

Perception.

The way you perceive a character as acting or being isn’t necessarily the way other people see it, or even, heaven forbid, the actual writers of the show do. I doubt very much it’s a lack of respect issue.  The reality is that we have all created our own ideas about how a character will act when given a situation, but that doesn’t mean it’s true.  People don’t always act ‘in character’.  Do you always react to certain situations the same way?  The whole ‘in character’ argument irritates me a bit.  If every outcome was predictable, where is the fun in reading fic?  I’m not saying anything goes, but if the author has painted a believable reason for the actions I’m all for it.  What I dislike is people predetermining how things should be based on their own opinions.  This show especially has tons of room for different scenarios and if someone is going to put in the effort to try something new, it doesn’t make me sad.  It makes me happy that they want to try.  If they didn’t respect the characters or producers they wouldn’t even try.

^This. I mean, there’s obviously a line. Some things are completely absurd and not even a little plausible, but a lot of the time, it is about perception. Sometimes when I’m WATCHING the show, something strikes me as out-of-character. Like would Kate Beckett do that? Would Castle do that? And that’s not even fanfiction. And I think if the show’s writers take liberties like that, fic writers should have the same leeway. I’m not putting myself on the same level or anything, but I think it’s incredibly rude to say that it’s disrespectful to the heart of the show if something perhaps isn’t the way YOU personally see it. It could be OOC to you, but completely in character to someone else.

Nothing like a little fanfiction to remind you how very single you are

Fanfiction, shipping, and OTPs. Love this video.

“When you insult someone’s OTP, shit just got personal.”

So apparently, reviews are now called “comments”.

Fanfiction.net, examine your life choices, please.

For the last time, readers.

I’m NOT a cop.

So maybe I’ve gotten a few details wrong in Days of Summer. For that, I apologize. However, the only way I would know these small details is by talking to a real cop. Do I know any real cops? No.

So please, cut me a little slack. It’s a fanfiction story, not a New York Times Bestseller.

Hopefully another chapter of #divorcefic tonight if I can get my shit together.

..and Days of Summer, too. Can’t neglect the happy one. ;)

So depressed about Comic Con that I might start writing #divorcefic tomorrow.

Ugh. This FF.net censorship hurts me inside.
